Here are 5 home remedies for constipation
1. Ghee in warm milk
Consuming ghee (clarified butter) with warm milk or hot water is an ancient and highly effective remedy. This combination stimulates bowel movements within 15 minutes. Simply mix one spoon of ghee with lukewarm or hot milk and drink it. Ghee adds moisture to the stool, softening it, while warm milk aids in faster cleansing of the stomach.
2. Cumin and Ajwain (carom seeds)
Cumin and ajwain have long been considered beneficial for stomach problems. They provide quick relief from issues such as acidity, vomiting, abdominal pain, and cramps, in addition to facilitating bowel movements. To prepare this remedy, roast and grind two spoons of cumin and two spoons of ajwain. Add half a teaspoon of black salt to the mixture and consume a small quantity with warm water. Both cumin and ajwain are effective for stomach-related problems, and black salt aids in digestion.
3. Soaked raisins
Raisins are an excellent remedy for instant relief from constipation. Soak 8 to 10 dry grapes (raisins) in water and remove their seeds in the morning. Consume the soaked raisins with warm milk. According to Ayurveda, consuming raisins provides quick relief from stomach problems and also helps alleviate tiredness and weakness.
4. Ayurvedic massage
Ayurveda considers hot oil massage effective for constipation. Mix carom seeds (celery) in lukewarm oil and massage it on the lower abdomen. This massage provides quick relief from stomach pain, constipation, and acidity issues. The heat from the oil helps relax the muscles and alleviate abdominal cramps.
